Jug Hollow Road & Valley Forge Splendor

1. Distance & Route via Covered Bridge

Instead of the longer PA‑23 route, try this more scenic 7‑mile drive: start at 387 Devonshire Rd → head north to Darby Paoli Rd → turn west onto Yellow Springs Rd → cross the picturesque Knox Covered Bridge → then turn left onto Jug Hollow Road.

The recently restored 1865 bridge spans Valley Creek and adds a historic touch to the journey (tredyffrin.org).

2. Scenic Road & Wild Corners

Jug Hollow Road curves gently through wooded hollow, flanked by stone walls and deep greenery. Wildlife sightings—deer, hawks, foxes—are common, especially near the creek-side bends and buckeye groves.

3. Legal Trail Access & Bridges

Just north of the bridge, discover a legal footpath leading to a hidden Yellow Springs entrance of Valley Forge Park. A few hundred yards into the woods, it meets the Horseshoe Trail. From there, hikers can cross Valley Creek on a small footbridge and connect to the park's interior.
